Authentic Basque Cheesecake has landed in London.
BURNT CARAMELIZED CRUST, RICH & CREAMY INTERIOR.
YOU WON’T STOP THE SPOON
The Basque cheesecake was born in a bar-restaurant located in the old town of San Sebastian
The New York Times calls it: the Basque cheesecake.
—The origin of the cheesecake travels the world—
Before The New York Times raised it to the gastronomic altars, this dessert was already well known among renowned chefs. In fact, it has become one of the most imitated cheesecakes in the restaurant business since it was first made in this restaurant in 1990. But what is so special about it?
A family recipe with a very special ingredient: love
Hello!
My name is Lucia. I want to personally welcome and thank you for arriving on this page where you will learn a bit more about La Maritxu and the story behind it.
It all started before Christmas 2021. We are a Basque family of three sisters: Maria, who lives in Quito, Almudena, the youngest, and myself, Lucia, living in London. It had been a long time since we had the idea of bringing the Basque culture to our new living places and one of the best things about the Basque culture is its gastronomy.
